Interested in selling us Magic cards? Here's a rundown of how the process works here at Phoenix, as well as a short FAQ.
Getting Started
If you're interested in selling cards here at Phoenix, here's how you do it:
- Visit our buylist page and start adding cards. You can choose from either cash or store credit options in the upper right of your cart.
- When adding cards, make sure you select the appropriate set and condition. Low value cards will not be accepted if not near mint. High value cards are generally not accepted if worse than moderately played.
- Submit the buylist by hitting ‘Proceed to Checkout’ and filling out the information fields given. Chosen names are allowed.
- Bring the cards to the store along with a government issued photo ID or another form of photo identification such as a passport. We’ll take a photocopy of your ID, and have you sign & fill out a short form with your name, email, and phone number. Chosen name is fine here as well, but if expecting more than $50 in cash let us know if the name on the check should match the ID instead.
- We will take a minimum of 3 days and up to 7 to make changes to set, condition, and quantities as needed before sending you a final offer via the email address provided in writing.
- If you accept our offer, we'll apply the store credit to your account associated with the email provided. Cash offers under $50 will be paid out at the register when you come in. Cash offers over $50 will be paid out in the form of a check. Please allow 1-3 days for check processing.
- Don’t forget to pick up your declined cards, which will be listed in the final offer email. Declined cards are held for 90 days after the offer is sent.

Card Buying FAQ
Interested, but have questions? Here's a few of the ones we've been asked pretty often!
Q: How much do you pay for cards?
A: For cards with a market value over $3, we pay 68% of that card's value in store credit, or 40% for cash. For cards under $3, we pay 2% for store credit, 1% for cash.
Please note: these numbers are subject to change based on the number of cards in our inventory and market conditions.
Q: What condition system do you use?
A: We use the TCGPlayer system for assigning cards a condition ranging from Near Mint (NM), Lightly Played (LP), Moderately Played (MP), Heavily Played (HP), or Damaged (DMG) based on the condition guide presented here(you can skip to 2:00 to get to the meat):
Q: How does condition affect card prices at Phoenix?
A: For each grade below NM, we subtract 15% from a card's price (both selling and buying). For example a card worth $10 in NM condition will cost $8.50 if it's lightly played.
Q: How does store credit work at Phoenix?
A: Store credit is tied to a name and email in our system. You can ask to use your credit in-store by giving us your name at the register. It can be used online if you sign in with the email it’s tied to.
Q: How do I buy cards through y'all via the website with store credit?
A: Sign in on the website, build your order as normal, proceed to checkout, and under payment options there will be an “Apply Store Credit” option. Bada bing bada boom.
