It's the most wonderful time of the year....which is to say that it's dark outside at 4 PM and it's super cold! Yup, the holiday season is upon us, and that means it's time to start thinking about gifts, decorations, and of course, store hours. But before we dive into those - we've got some upcoming special events to talk about first!

December Events

Despite the wintery holiday rush, we've still got a few notable events happening this month! Lost Caverns of Ixalan has a store championship and commander party up on the docket, and our final Tuesday Night Magic of 2023 is a bit of a special send-off

Lost Caverns of Ixalan Store Championship

We're diving back into Standard on Saturday, December 2 with our Lost Caverns of Ixalan Store Championship. Break out your spiciest and most competitive Standard Brew (check out What's In Standard for the full list of sets and banned lists).

Lost Caverns of Ixalan Commander Party

Calling all commander players! Our Lost Caverns of Ixalan commander party is scheduled for December 16th from 2-6 PM. For those of you just joining us, Commander Parties are fancy commander events with a bonus set of rules themed around the most recent set. For Lost Caverns of Ixalan, we're descending into the core of Ixalan, and choosing a god to champion as we fight through our games.

Tuesday Night Magic - Deck the Guildhalls Sealed

Okay so. A few years back we wound up with a set of each of the prerelease kits for every guild in Ravnica when the Ravnica Allegiance and Guilds of Ravnica sets came out. And I've always wanted to something unique for our final flashback draft of 2023. Thus was the Deck the Guildhalls Sealed event born. We've got 10 spots for this event, one per guild. Each will be randomly assigned at the beginning of the event. Players will have 45 minutes to deck construct and then play a quick 3 rounds of sealed.

Holiday & Post-Holiday Hours

The holiday season should be a time of rest and relaxation. And our team here at Phoenix has worked our butts off this year. So in deference to everyone on the team, we'll be taking the week after Christmas a little bit easy with some adjusted hours.

Running from December 26 - 31, we'll be open 11 AM - 8 PM, with regular hours December 24th (that's 10 AM - 9 PM). We'll be back to regular hours on Tuesday, January 2. 

As such, we are not planning to host any week night events during that period. Players are welcome to come join us for a couple of hours while we're open, but we're not planning to host our usual suite of week night events that week.
